EDIT ME — Nauseating Words

quote mark

I don’t always speak with correct grammar. Why? Because I don’t wanna. Because I sound like a pretentious bitch in rural America. Because my brain doesn’t always think that way verbally, but works fine on paper.

Here is one of those words: NAUSEOUS

Driving on a bumpy road for an hour, I say, “I’m nauseous.”

This actually means that I cause nausea in the people around me. I have the ability to cause nausea.

The correct word is NAUSEATED. If you are ill or disgusted by something, you’re nauseated.

Driving on a bumpy road for an hour, I should say, “I’m nauseated.”

That roadkill along the interstate is nauseous.

I’m nauseated after smelling that roadkill along the interstate.

Hope this tip helps you!

Em~

  1. Makes me think of the movie “Never Been Kissed” with Drew Berrymore. 🙂
